The biggest amateur event in state planned
The American Amateur Championship, one of the largest amateur golf tournaments in the nation, will be held in the South Puget Sound area at the end of July, 2008. It hopes to attract around 1,000 players who will compete over a three-day period at multiple championship golf courses in the area. The final playoff will be held at Chambers Bay.

Chambers Bay lands 2015 U.S. Open and 2010 U.S Amateur
The United States Golf Association has decided the Pacific Northwest will be the home of two major championships in 2010 and 2015 by awarding Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash. the 2010 U.S. Amateur and 2015 U.S. Open. It will be the first U.S. Open ever in the Pacific Northwest.
New owners take over at Resort at the Mountain
Previously owned by Janice and Ed Hopper, the resort was acquired by Oly-IDA Hotels LLC. The Resort at The Mountain will undergo $14 million in renovations which are scheduled for guestroom completion in June 2008 and final completion in fall 2008.
Veterans have their own golf course
The American Lake Veterans Golf Course in Tacoma is a place that is a haven for veterans. The place is run by volunteers (mostly veterans) and is only open to veterans.
NW golf courses hope to rebound after December floods
December’s deluge overwhelmed several rivers around the Northwest causing widespread flooding and damage. Many golf courses were among the casualties of the floodwater.
Golf Course owner battles back as the floodwaters rise
The owner of Riverside Golf course in Chehalis, Wash. decided to dig in and ride out the flood. He wanted to make sure the waters of the nearby Chehalis River would not ruin his investment.
