The TPC at Snoqualmie Ridge, the Jack Nicklaus-designed private golf course that is home to the Boeing Classic, has been sold by Quadrant Homes to BrightStar Golf Group of Carlsbad, Calif.

Peter M. Orser, president of Quadrant Homes, said the company is selling the course because “in the long term we don’t want to own and operate golf courses.”

The Boeing Classic, the annual August visit for the Champions Tour, is under contract to be played on the course this year and in 2009. Bill Keough, president and CEO of BrightStar, said he is “looking forward” to talks with Boeing and the Champions Tour about extending the agreement.

The TPC Snoqualmie Ridge had been operated by Troon Golf.

Seattle Seahawks new sponsor for Boeing Classic Pro-Am event

The Boeing Classic and the Seattle Seahawks announced an expansion of the team’s partnership with the Champions Tour event, highlighted by the Seahawks new title sponsorship of the tournament’s two-day Pro-Am. The newly titled Seattle Seahawks Pro-Am will take place August 20-21, 2008, at TPC Snoqualmie Ridge as part of the week of events leading up to tournament competition August 22-24.

The Seattle Seahawks Pro-Am features 56 foursomes playing in a two-day event, with every amateur team paired with a different Champions Tour player each day.

It is a unique opportunity for the tournament’s corporate partners to play with a legend of golf and greatly contributes to the charitable proceeds raised for The Heart Institute at Virginia Mason Medical Center.

The Seahawks involvement with the Pro-Am this year will provide an added benefit to the participants as well. The team has established a trophy – The Seahawks Cup - that will be awarded annually to the winning foursome. In addition, each amateur will have an opportunity to win a trip Super Bowl XLIII in Tampa, Florida. It is a significant addition to the Seahawks’ already considerable involvement in the event.

“In only three years, the Boeing Classic has established itself as not only one of the premier tournaments on the Champions Tour, but one of the most vital and exciting sporting events in the Greater Seattle area,” said Tod Leiweke, CEO of the Seahawks. “The Seahawks are proud to have been a part of the Boeing Classic since its inception and our increased participation in sponsoring the Pro-Am is a testament to the positive impact the tournament has made in this community.”

The Seahawks were a driving force in bringing this PGA TOUR Champions Tour event to the Puget Sound. They will continue their involvement with the NFL Alumni Rumble at the Ridge, the annual event which kicks off tournament week. This year’s Rumble will take place on Monday, August 18th.

“The tremendous support provided by the Seahawks organization is at the heart of why this tournament has been so successful in its relatively short history in this community,” said Executive Director Chuck Nelson. “The elements that the team is adding to the Pro-Am will make this a more exciting event and, as is our ultimate goal for the event, will assist us with increasing our proceeds to benefit The Heart Institute.”

The 2007 Boeing Classic thrilled local spectators and golf fans worldwide with a remarkable finish in which Denis Watson beat six other players in a seven-man playoff, the largest playoff in PGA Tour history. 27,000 fans, the largest single-day crowd in Boeing Classic history, attended Championship Sunday. For the week, the tournament attracted 60,000 guests, up from crowds of 58,000 in 2006 and 53,000 in 2005, the tournament’s inaugural year.
